When independent elderly woman Daisy Werthan (Jessica Tandy) crashes her car, an African American driver Hoke Colburn (Morgan Freeman) is hired as her chauffeur. Even though the relationship has a rough start with Daisys reluctance and hints of racism, the two form a close bond of friendship that transcends racial prejudices and social conventions.
